Outrigger Club Members' Vacation Fun Advice

Club Members Respond to the Question of  Where They Like
to Eat, Shop, and Play During Their Outrigger Vacation

We love to go to Doc Ford's, and Parrot Key to dine. Great atmosphere.

There are jet ski, bike, and kayak rentals, parasailing all nearby.  Nervous Nellies is a great new restaurant on the bay with an expansive menu to fit every lifestyle and flavor.  Like the fact that there is live music right there so, you don't have to go anywhere if you don't want to.

This question is difficult to answer because once you are at the Outrigger you don't want to leave.  If you really feel as though you have to leave then a trip to Captiva and Sanibel Island at sundown is a must do trip.  On the way back, stop for an ice cream or dinner at any of the great restaurants on the North end of Estero Blvd.  Be safe, park your car at the Outrigger, and have your favorite nightcap at the Tiki Bar.

Bass Pro shop is huge and very interesting for the whole family.  Charley’s Boathouse is just across the street and all the food is awesome, my favorite is the all u can eat prime rib-bbq ribs and crab legs.  Plan on spending time to get your belly-full!  As far as bars go, the Tiki bar makes the best drinks in Fort Myers and its right there at the resort!  The late night shark-fishing excursion was also a blast I caught a 6-foot shark and it was cleaned and cut-up right there for us.  We went to Sunsplash Water Park at Cape Coral and spent the whole day there.  It also was a blast!  The wine and cheese sampling at the resort was also great.  The live music at the Tiki bar kept us there at the resort.  It was not loud garbage music but soothing and very relaxing with a good drink in hand.  The pool area is a real nice place to hang out while listening to music with a good cold beer or mixed drink.  Now that I am reflecting back, I miss it all so bad!  The grills out back are also great for steaks.

Favorite restaurant: FishMonger
Favorite resort activity: "sitting"
Love the availability of food on site at the resort.
We always need to check out the antique areas in Fort Myers.
Dog tracks are fun to do.

Loved taking the trolley to Times Square area!  Watched schools of sting rays swim around and folks fishing off the pier.   $2 cocktails and fabulous crab legs at Wahoo Willies as well as the outstanding view, food and drinks at Nemo's on the Beach.

Resort Activity - nothing could beat grabbing dinner to go from the Deckside Cafe` and running up to our balcony to watch our own private sunset.  We could hear somebody blowing the conch shell at the Tiki Bar right at sunset, too!

Other fave activity: deciding each day....hmm, beach or pool?   Beach or pool or tiki bar?   And usually winding up at all 3 throughout the day.

If we have time like to go to outlets. Otherwise fun to browse the Time Square shops
Restaurants we love Nervous Nellies and Terra Nostra.
Breakfast in the Deckside is very good!  As is lunch and dinner.
The Tiki bar is great for sunset!
The Edison house is a good tour on a cloudy day.
Like the managers cocktail party on deck.

My favorite things ...
Miramar Outdoor Outlet Mall.
This Michigan vacationer loves seafood.  First stop is the Resort restaurant for a grouper sandwich. Everyone needs to go to the Boathouse across the street for seafood and steak!

The Tiki Bar at the hotel is a great place to visit in between swims, walks on the beach and sun tanning.

For a great day trip or overnite stay.   Go on a boat excursion from Fort Myers to Key West.  You will see a beautiful sunset on the way home.

Swimming in the pool and strolling the beach is why I love the Outrigger.

When I'm there, I really just enjoy the beach, pool, walking on the beach for exercise and relaxing in the sun.  Do enjoy the trolley ride down to the pier area where all the activity takes place.  Enjoy a meal or two at Charley’s Boathouse (can walk) and the new restaurant behind the Publix that over looks the waterway.  The Tiki Bar at the Outrigger is nice and always active and has some pretty good local entertainment most evenings.  Fun way to enjoy a drink or two after a day on the beach and at the pool.  If you have a rainy day or just want to get off the beach for a while, the boat casino across the bridge off the beach is a fun thing or the Indian casino about an hour drive away is a fun thing to do also.

We come to the Outrigger for the AWESOME beach/beach view from our beachfront efficiency.   Most of the time we spend on the beach relaxing and soaking up the sun.   Our trips are in March when we all need a huge break from the cold, snowy Indiana weather.  We go into highway 41 for most of our shopping and restaurants.  We usually eat breakfast, lunch in the resort room, and dine out for dinner.   Sometimes we order from the Deckside Cafe on the resort grounds for lunch. The scenery is so awesome that we don't leave much until it is time for dinner.  The live music at the Tiki Bar on grounds is also nice to listen too.
